Hello, and welcome to the International Feminisms section! Although the F-WORD magazine is pretty Western-centric by choice, (because there's certainly a wealth of things to analyze here in the US, and creating a magazine for "THE WORLD!" seems just a tad bit ambitious) we feel that it's quite important to learn about how gender issues manifest themselves around the globe.

With that in mind, we will highlight political struggles in other countries- not by shaking our collective, self-righteous finger at different cultures that are "oppressive" to women, but by showing how women everywhere have been standing up for their rights and advocating for change.

In this issue, we have two articles from international correspondents:

Jamaica
Farrah Parkes

Oasis: An Arab-Jewish Romance in the Negev Desert
Loolwa Khazzoom
Different versions of this article appeared in the Jewish Journal of Los Angeles, the Jewish Week, and Marie Claire.

Enjoy!
